As a postgraduate MA International Relations student, undertaking an internship was significant in building up research skills as a research intern. As a research intern I had a variety of duties. I compiled research on various working papers; mainly focusing on Elections and Democracy. I was also fortunate to participate on the outset of Bitesize Democracy on ADI TV. This allowed me to refine my skills, especially those in my field of study, practice public speaking.
This internship helped me narrow down my future career path. I loved doing research and I would now like to work as a research assistant at an NGO or think tank. If anyone has an interest in politics or policy, it is extremely valuable to your future career to intern with ADI and make as many connections as possible. All in all, I was able to learn skills that one cannot learn in a classroom.
